Building character through athletics.

Welcome to the Robinson School Athletics Department! At Robinson, students enjoy broad offerings in Physical Education and Team Sports (Developmental and Competition Level) that enrich and connect our community, promote physical and emotional well-being, and reinforce valuable life skills for our students beyond the classroom. Lessons learned through athletics – discipline, self-confidence, teamwork – are never limited to just the sport itself. As student-athletes prepare for the “big game,” they also learn how to prepare for the major challenges in their lives, events much bigger than sports contests. Many of our students are varsity athletes who aspire to play in college and our coaches guide them as they discover how athletics might fit into their futures. While we realize that not every student will be a varsity athlete, we want all students to experience the values and learning experiences that are part of athletics. Students who come to Robinson School thinking of themselves as non-athletes often find that they learn from sports in ways they never anticipated or even thought possible. As participants and as fans, all students enjoy the sense of community that comes from participating in athletic contests. They experience firsthand the power of practice, perseverance, and teamwork.

Physical fitness and basic health principles are promoted through the development of coordination and balance, spatial awareness, problem-solving, group games, primary sports skills and interscholastic competitions. A positive attitude toward athletic and recreational activities is encouraged as a means to increase student-athlete self-esteem, to develop a respect for physical well-being and to ultimately lead active and productive lives.

Important Dates for Student-Athletes

Robinson School believes that the opportunity for participation in a wide variety of selected activities is a vital part of a student’s educational experiences. Such participation is a privilege that carries with it a responsibility to the school, to the activity, to other students, to the community and to the athletes themselves. Athletics provide a balance of experiences that contribute to the development of learning and emotional skills that enable the student to achieve maximum benefit from his or her education.

Program Goals:

We believe and are fully committed to “Pursuing Victory with Honor” while developing character in our student-athletes, which includes qualities such as trustworthiness, responsibility, respect, fairness, caring and citizenship. Pillars of our Program include competing with sportsmanship and respect for the opposition by:
